About

Cryptozoology (from Greek kryptos, “hidden” + zoology; literally, “study of hidden animals”) is the search for and study of animals whose existence has not been proven. The animals cryptozoologists study are often referred to as cryptids, a term coined by John Wall in 1983. This includes looking for living examples of animals that are considered extinct, such as dinosaurs; animals whose existence lacks physical evidence but which appear in myths, legends, or are reported, such as Bigfoot and Loch Ness.

The Cryptozoology & Paranormal Museum in Littleton, NC is dedicated to the study and display of phenomena such as:

  • Bigfoot information and artifacts
  • Ghost evidence and ghost investigation tools
  • Local cryptid and ghost stories and evidence
  • Lake and river “monsters”
  • UFO stories and evidence
  • Famous Fakes such as the Fiji Mermaid

We have a new location at 300 North Main St Littleton NC stop on in

Hi, We are looking to visit you on Sat. 6/11. Very excited. Is there a reason that the “R” is missing from “PARANORMAL” on the website Title at the top of the home page? Very eerie! Looking forward to our visit.

My sister, bestfriend and I are planning on taking a road trip from Charelston to Washington DC and we were looking for a cheap place to stop, stretch our legs and, have some fun in the middle.
I have a few questions: how much does admission cost? is this a big museum or more personally run? And how long does it usally take to stroll through your museum ? Is this more of a child museum or one that an adult would enjoy?

Hi Ellie, the museum is free and though we welcome children it is more oriented towards adults. It is a personally run museum, most visitors stay about an hour. Please let me know if you have any other questions

I had so much fun and learned so much more. The family is so nice and friendly. (plus the awesome pups) The area is full of history and they make it fun. The museum is nice and has a lot of different things to look at, and it’s growing. I was looking forward to going this past weekend, but now I can’t wait to go again. Anyone going on a road trip should plan a stop here it’s more than worth it. Thanks
